What's the difference between Etwas, Manche and Einige? : German

  • Etwas
    • some amount of uncountable things
    • like something e.g Ich möchte etwas essen (I want to eat something)
  • Mache
    • some countable things
    • means some but not most
    • Can almost always be replaced with einige except in very few cases
    • Its opposite is die meisten (the most)
      • If opposite of the sentence don't sound right, manche is not the word for that sentence e.g
        • Da drüben stehen einige Bäume (There are some trees over there)
          • Opposite with manche: Most of the trees are over there
          • Opposite with einige: Other trees are over there
    • Manche is not many but more than two
  • Einige
    • some countable things
    • means a few or several
    • its opposite is andere (others)
    • Einige is more than manche but still not that many
